untethering our vessels

and setting sights for shores distant
with joyous shouts we unfurl the sails
letting the wind carry us forth
throwing the compass away
letting the tides move us;
east west south north
awaiting fate’s blessing or curse

and what a difference it makes
how your presence my breath does take
the same dreary street
the same cold sleet

to something bright and white
